Many Londoners pay homage to the roles played by John Graves
Simcoe and Colonel Thomas Talbot in shaping and founding London
as an agricultural, military and commercial headquarters for
Southwestern Ontario. By January 1, 1855 London had grown from a
town to “city”.
Starting January 1, 2005, Londoners will have the opportunity to
join with other Londoners and organizations to celebrate and
reflect on their changing and evolving city.
